What are Suggestions?
Suggestions are claims or comments submitted by users who either have no rights in a public discussion, or the Viewer role in a private discussion. These suggested claims and comments will be hidden from other users until they are approved by an Admin. Admins receive a notification whenever users suggest a claim or comment in their discussion.
For information on how to make suggestions in a discussion, see Suggesting Claims and Suggesting Comments.
How to View Suggested Claims and Comments
To see pending suggestions in one of your discussions, click on the three horizontal bars at the top-left of the screen to open the Discussion Menu. If there are pending suggestions that have not yet been accepted or hidden, a blue notification will appear to the right of either ‘Suggested Claims’ or ‘Suggested Comments’. Click on either of these menu items to open the list of pending suggestions.
Responding to Suggested Claims
Once you’ve opened the list of Suggested Claims, click on a suggestion to be taken to it in the discussion. Underneath the suggested claim will be the option to ‘Accept’ or ‘Reply’ to it. You may also click 'Invite' in the top-right of the claim, which will open the interface to invite the user to the discussion.
Accepting a Suggested Claim
Click ‘Accept’ if you wish to approve the claim. Accepting a claim will make it visible in the discussion for other users to see and interact with. If you accept a claim where the suggester has made further suggestions below it, only the top claim will be accepted. This allows you to decide which suggested claims in a branch of suggestions should be made visible to all users.
Once you accept a suggested claim, a pop-up will appear asking if you would like to invite the user to the discussion. If invited, the user will become a Writer (see: Participant Rights and Roles) in the discussion. If you invite a user who has made further suggestions in the discussion, they will be able to accept their own pending suggestions.
Replying to and Hiding a Suggested Claim
Clicking ‘Reply’ will take you to the comment field, where you are able to request changes or clarification from the suggester. To hide a suggested claim from the Suggested Claims menu once you have responded to it, click ‘Hide until suggester responds’. If you hide a suggestion where the suggester has made further suggestions below it, the branch will be hidden. You will be notified when the suggester amends their claim or responds to your message.
To view hidden suggested claims, check the ‘Show hidden and archived suggestions’ box located at the top of the Suggested Claims list. You can also search through suggested claims by clicking the magnifying glass. Hidden suggested claims can be approved or responded to the same way regular suggested claims are.
Moving a Suggested Claim
You can move a suggested claim to another location in the discussion as you would a regular claim.
If you move a claim where the suggester has made further suggestions below it, the entire branch of suggested claims will be moved with it. If you want to move a suggestion under a suggestion created by a different author, you will need to first accept the suggestion you want to move it under (as otherwise, the author of the claim you are moving will no longer be able to see their own suggestion).
Accepting or Rejecting Suggested Comments
Underneath a suggested comment will be the options to either ‘Accept’ or ‘Reject’ it. If you ‘Accept’ the suggested comment, it will appear for other users. If you ‘Reject’ the suggested comment, a popup will appear for you to enter a reason. The user will be notified of the reason you enter and may then edit their suggested comment to make it more suitable. You may also click 'Invite' in the top-right of the comment, which will open the interface to invite the user to the discussion.
